Know Our Story
At Shemot Immigration, we are much more than a service. Our story stems from personal experience and an understanding of the challenges involved in emigrating to the United States.
My name is Bertha Córdoba, and along with my daughter Gabriela McCarter, I founded Shemot Immigration. I came to the United States without the intention of staying, but my life took an unexpected turn. I loved my native Colombia, where I grew up and developed as a person and a professional. However, I found myself at a point where I felt stuck, with no clear future. So, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and venture beyond Melgar.
On this journey, I met the father of my daughters and decided to settle in the United States. But emigrating was not easy. I experienced firsthand the difficulties and challenges that come with this process. The pressure forced me to return to my country, but in 2022, I came back with a new attitude and a dream: to practice my career in this country and help others who, like me, long to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Shemot is inspired by the biblical verse Deuteronomy 10:19:
"So you must also show love to the foreigner, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt."
This text speaks about treating immigrants with love, remembering that WE ALL were immigrants at some point. Our mission at Shemot Immigration is to be the trusted allies of those who wish to fulfill their dreams of settling in the United States.
